Wilson Associates was commissioned by Downtown Design to conceptualize this year’s bar area and social spaces. In light of this commission, Wilson Associates has decided to use this project as a platform for dialogue and awareness, and to push for closer collaboration within the local design community.


The idea of Just One highlights that while a single action is a step towards making a difference, many actions taken together result in a stronger and more unified future.

realized this idea through a strong collaborative process, bringing together different areas of the local design community to literally and symbolically ‘build’ a project together.
All of us at STUDIO MARK are firm believers in the in power and strength of collaboration within the local design community. Successful design isn’t about being “Just One”, it takes an entire community of like-minded creatives to make a project truly great. And it takes a lot of effort to get it right.

When asked by Wilson Associates to collaborate on the Just One campaign, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to bridge the gap within the lighting design community and showcase how that “just one” action really can make a difference and influence change.

For the first time in Dubai's local lighting design community’s history, STUDIO MARK brought together a total of 15 competing lighting suppliers, manufactures, lighting control and digital media experts to
create an interactive, cutting-edge and immersive installation at Downtown Design. It was a true testament to the power of “Just One”.

The lighting design for the bar at Downtown Design has was carefully crafted with the designers at Wilson Associates and utilized a multi-layered lighting approach with the use of multiple color-changing lighting equipment (Artemide Discovory Panels, GVA & Traxon RGBW Grazer), Rosco color filter's strechted onto frames, Dali & DMX dimmable lighting sources, Specialty Controls, and Digital Media design elements.
